A Brief explanation of the City Walk:
You have a choice
of starting the walk in the morning or
in the evening hours. We pick
you from any Hotel in Kandy for the morning walk which is at 7am or the evening walk which is at 3.pm. We will be starting at Udawatte Kelle which is a jungle preserved for over 400 years. This jungle is situated behind the Temple of the sacred Tooth Relic which was used by ancient king to spend their leisure time. It has a history of birds and butterflies.
The Four Worship Temples
Walking through the Trincomalee street, we will visit the Visnu Maha Devalaya, Sri Natha
Devalaya, Sri Paththini Devalaya and the Kathragama Devalaya. All these are sacred worship places situated around the temple of the sacred Tooth Relic. These worship places were built by the ancient kings, who come from India to rule the Kandyan Kingdom. The queens, who accompanied the kings, worshiped these gods.
St Paula’s Church
St. Paul’s Church is named as unique as when the British captured the Kandyan
Kingdom
this was the first church to be built.
Finally we will be walking through the
Queens corridor to the hidden streets of
Kandy
where anything could be found. Then we
enter the Kandy Market to see the day to
day busy lives of the Kandyan people.
Our final destination is Arthur Seat
where we will chill out with a breath
taking view Kandy
city.
